There’s never a time that all our tanks inside the brewery are not full up of our delicious beer.

So, when the COVID-19 global pandemic rocked the world in early 2020 and the Prime Minister announced the closure of all pubs, hotels, bars and restaurants who we deliver beer to everyday, we were suddenly left standing in a brewery full of tanks containing over 20,000 pints of beer.

As with the whole world at the time, we had to think quickly and adapt our business and sadly say a temporary farewell to lots of our friends and colleagues as they went off on furlough.

We’re all incredibly proud of our beers, which have won close to 100 awards since our launch in 2013.  So, it really did seem unfathomable to just see this beer get poured down the drain and therefore it made perfect sense for us to give all our beer away for free to the community.

Everyone is struggling right now so any way in which we can give back, like Lacons have done in their history, we should.

Those of us who remained at work set to the task of launching our Stay At Home Brew campaign using the hashtag #LoveLacons. We spread the word across our social media channels and the response was astounding! Within a couple of days we had over 6000 people register for Stay At Home Brew to be dropped on their doorsteps. We soon found ourselves 24/7 interacting on socials, filling up 4 pint beer containers and out doing deliveries in an attempt to distribute 20,000 free pints throughout the community.

The good news is we succeeded and every last drop was given away and enjoyed by a thirsty local lockdown community. It’s a time we will strangely look back on with fondness and have dedicated a little space in our museum, which you can explore on our virtual tour.
